The Denver Public Schools Board of Education has seven directors that are elected to four-year staggered terms. Five of the directors represent districts within Denver and two represent Denver at large.
Three seats are up for election in the November 7, 2023 Coordinated Election: Director Districts 1, 5, and an At Large seat. Candidates must be a registered elector of the school district for at least 12 consecutive months before the election and be a resident of the director district represented if applicable. Anyone convicted of commission of a sexual offense against a child is ineligible to run for school director. Board candidates run on a non-partisan basis.
A person who desires to be a candidate for school director shall file a written notice of intention to be a candidate and a nomination petition signed by at least fifty (50) eligible electors who are registered to vote in the regular biennial school election.
Nomination petitions may be obtained from the Denver Elections Division. Candidates for School District Director may not circulate the nomination petition for signatures prior to ninety days before the election – August 9, 2023.
Completed petitions should be submitted to the Denver Elections Division no later than 5:00 p.m. on September 1, 2023.
