Michelle Moss - District 2 - Vice President

Michelle Moss

Elected to the Board of Education in November 2001, Michelle Moss is a native of Denver and graduate of the Denver Public Schools. She attended Knapp Elementary, Rishel Jr. High and Lincoln High School. Michelle received her BA from Metropolitan State College. She also earned a Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Northern Colorado. Michelle taught Language Arts in Jefferson County for over 10 years. She has been politically active in the Southwest Denver community. For 10 years, she was an officer for the District 1 Democrats. Michelle also served as PTSA President and Vice President at Sabin Elementary. She was also a member of the Sabin Collaborative School Committee and Personnel Sub-Committee. Michelle's passion for the last two years has been coordinating home literacy programs for Sabin. She is a member of the Board of Directors for the Colorado Chapter of AGBell. Michelle is married to Kerry Moss and has two children, Molly and Nicholas who attend Denver schools.

Michelle believes that the most important goal of the Denver Public Schools must be to improve academic achievement for all children. She believes we must empower our teachers with the information that can be extracted from the CSAP test results to ensure that our teachers have all the information they need to best help our children be successful. She believes we must invite parents into our schools and form partnerships with them to make our schools truly community schools where parents, the staff and the administration decide what is best for the children in their communities. Finally, Michelle believes that we should further encourage our communities to participate in the process of supporting our children and uplifting our schools.
